Technology plays a huge role in our everyday lives and those of you who are regulars at Mecca Bingo, will soon notice that the advancements are seemingly never-ending. Owned by The Rank Group, Mecca Bingo is set to introduce a cloud sharing platform called wi-Q, which allows customers to place food/drink orders and pay for services via their smart phones.

It’s not just Mecca Bingo that is set for the revolutionary new service, Grosvenor Casino is also set to welcome the wi-Q platform which will allow customers to pay for services in the same way as Mecca Bingo. As you can imagine, the service will likely be a huge hit and assuming the selected locations are able to deliver it successfully, all Mecca Bingo halls and Grosvenor Casinos are likely to implement it across all their destinations.

wi-Q benefits

wi-Q was launched in 2014 and already has some pretty impressive cliental, which includes Hilton Hotels & Resorts and the Dubai World Trade Centre to name but a few. The service it will provide for the Grosvenor and Mecca Bingo will be fairly similar and straightforward enough for users to understand, and there’s plenty of benefits to go with it.

Customers will be able to join the wi-Q system upon entering the destination and they’ll be presented with a food and drink menu, including a full price-range, so you can order your favourite tipples and cuisine whilst not interrupting your game. Food and beverage orders make a sizeable chunk of Mecca’s revenue so it’s likely wi-Q will only boost profits in the long-run. The payments themselves are made instantly and will be processed by Barclaycard.

What’s been said?

As you can imagine, the initial feedback has been more than favourable and the wi-Q technology has seen similar companies move away from app-based platforms. Take Wetherspoons for example, they use their own app for customers to place food and drink orders whereas Mecca Bingo and the Grosvenor rely on cloud sharing technology.

Co-Founder and Managing Director of wi-Q, Graham Cornhill, had this to say: “The move away from app-based solutions to intuitive cloud technology is where the wider hospitality industry is heading, and The Rank Group are working with us in a wider capacity to lead the market. wi-Q represents the next generation of mobile ordering and payment technology, and we look forward to working with Grosvenor Casinos and Mecca Bingo on their long-term digital engagement strategy.”

His view was similarly shared with the head of food and drink at the Rank Group, Eddie Hall: “We see the introduction of this technology as a huge step forward in driving our passion for a great customer experience in club. Our customers tells us they love the speed, convenience and ease of use of the platform. We look forward to continuing to innovate this technology to enhance our customer experience for the future.”

It’s hard not to imagine the wi-Q system not being a huge success when it is made available across the 90 locations it’s set to be used at. Technology influences our lives like never before and it’s likely that wi-Q will become a huge part of lives in the not so distant future.
