Is bingo a game of skill?

Bingo is everywhere, now played both online and at the bingo halls. Players enjoy it for its simplicity and social aspects. And though bingo is known as one type of game, but is there any skill involved?

Probability is King

When it comes to bingo, the probability is king, as it is a game that players don’t have much influence over. The numbers are drawn at random from a traditional bingo wheel or using a random number generator when played online. Either way, these outcomes are decided at random, and players cannot control which numbers come out.

In some bingo halls and online rooms, you can choose your bingo cards, meaning you can decide which numbers you need to win. Some people believe that choosing the right numbers will give them an increased likelihood of winning — for example, by picking an even spread of numbers rather than a bunch or favourite numbers.

The truth is there is no difference. Picking bingo cards is no different to choosing lottery numbers. Whether you are playing 75-ball bingo or 90-ball bingo, the game is still the same. (more…)

4 Crucial Tips to Increase Your Bingo Chances

Get Ready Early

This one is pretty obvious and applies to any form of bingo. It isn’t a solid concrete theory, but being ready & on your toes (not literally) when the first number (or ball) is drawn will ensure to maximise your game performance. Athletes get to events early so they have plenty of time to prepare to perform to the best of their ability. While bingo isn’t a physical nor professional sport, arriving early enough so you can buy the correct books, catch up with pals, set yourself up on a comfy table, lay out your lucky charms and buy any drinks and snacks you’ll need will ensure you are ready to go. Rushing in and throwing your belongings on the table as the first number is called is no way to prepare. It all comes down to the old saying “fail to prepare, prepare to fail”. (more…)

Bingo: A very packed house

The growth of the online bingo market is currently showing no signs of easing, with new sites opening on what seems to be a weekly basis.

It was predicted that the introduction of the new Point of Consumption tax back in December 2014 would trigger a slow down in the rate of market growth. The reasons for this assumption were that smaller brands would find it very difficult to remain profitable after the new 15% tax had been levied. (more…)

90 Ball Bingo

90-Ball Bingo is the most common version of bingo found in the UK, Australia and some parts of Europe. As opposed to the traditional American version of 75-Ball Bingo, 90-Ball Bingo is played with 90 balls and bingo tickets, rather than cards.

A 90-Ball Bingo ticket has 9 columns and 3 rows. Players will buy one sheet of six tickets, containing 90 numbers. While each row contains nine squares, only 5 of the squares are numbered with the remaining four left blank. Numbers range from 1 to 90, with all 90 numbers on each sheet of tickets. Therefore, every time a number is called, the player will be daubing that number on one of his or her tickets. (more…)
